Unfortunate experience at the Firearms counter. Came on on a weekday around 5:30 pm to see if they had a handgun in stock and get a feel for it. There was 1 gentleman ahead of me, which was fine. But the Firearms counter guy with long braids was so hell-bent on training the new employee, that he even said "usually right now while you wait you can help other people, but for now we will sit here and stare at the screen until its done processing."
I waited in line for about 45 minutes (along with other people) before I got so frustrated due to lack of respect, acknowledgement, and sheer decency to even recognize that there were other people in line. Not even a quick "be with you in a second, sir!" or "thank you guys for your patience, be with you all shortly". Complete and utterly disregarding other people is NOT customer service. This was my first experience at Sportsmans Warehouse and unfortunately, may be my last.

They screwed up my gun order and put someone else’s drivers license in the application. They wanted me to start all over again even though I waited four weeks. Also wouldn’t refund my background check fee, even though it was their fault the order was screwed up. definitely not coming back.

Incredibly frustrating experience with a firearms purchase. Came in 2 hours before the store closed for a pickup and was told they wouldn’t have time to help me because there was one person in front of me. If you come in during the weekend expect to have to wait about an hour most likely. You’d think with all the reviews with similar frustrations they would have found a way to fix this or have more staff. Take your business somewhere else.

THE WORST place to buy firearms I've encountered in the PNW. Ridiculously understaffed and staff that is there is more interested in talking to their walk-in "pals" than attending to customers. Came in early one morning and took a number. Was number 3 in line and it still took nearly 2 hours to get through the two people ahead of me as the guy at the gun counter was slow, inefficient, opinionated and chatted with everyone who walked past the gun counter. The time before that, I stood for nearly 3 hours leaning on one of their pallets waiting for them to call my number.
Also-purchased a pistol from them and the gun went on sale within the next 30 days for $40 less. Went in to see if they would refund me the difference that I paid and was told a flat "no" as I bought it for the price it was listed for, while several other online retailers told me "certainty sir! Thanks for being a loyal xyz customer and let us know if there's anything else that you need". They immediately refunded my card the difference between the 'on-sale' amount and the price I paid for the item-no questions asked.
SW has been rude, condescending and preoccupied conversing with their hunting/fishing buddies every time I have gone in there. Will not happen again as I will take my business elsewhere. So... bring your own chair and BUYER BEWARE!

The firearms department does not respect appointments scheduled online and also does not respect the number tickets used to call visitors in the numbered order. Last time I came by appointment, but lost 40 minutes because the guy at the counter chose to serve a walk-in visitor whose ticket was after mine, not to mention I had an appointment and the walk-in visitor did not. There was only one guy at the counter, and he did not bother serving multiple visitors at the same time, waiting 40 min for the out-of-line visitor to complete necessary forms. Their manager is great, but he is not always at the counter.

Understaffed. Many people want to spend money but cant because it's so slow. I'd bet a good amount of money walks out of the door every day because this place can't keep up with a basic amount of customers.

It feels like they don't want you to shop here.

Gun counter guy is pretty alright.

I really want to like this place. They carry things that 0 other stores in the area carry, such as primers (that carry an expensive hazmat shipping charge if bought online).

Unfortunately they are so understaffed, and the way the store is setup makes it impossible to get something from behind the counter in a reasonable amount of time. Typically 15-30 minutes wait, but sometimes over 45. Every time I have waited to be helped, I was the first person in line. Waiting for someone to do full background check paperwork while you are trying to buy something as simple as 1 box of primers sucks. The employees are nice, and I feel bad for them. But shopping here feels like smashing your own head in with a hammer.
