I disagree with the companies policy for veteran discounts. (Veterans worked 24/7. The discount is only on 3 holidays, that's ridiculous), but the store itself is a great store. The employees are always sweet, knowledgeable

To expensive but the store is very,clean. They have a lot of products that in my opinion are somewhat overpriced but there are some things you can get at a bargain if you are in the right place at the right time. It's got a good location to right off the expressway so it's easy to access if you can get that far.

Academy used to be really well-organized with lots of knowledgeable staff to help. I can't say that anymore. The shoe section, in particular, is a mess. There were models on display we couldn't find on the shelf, and models on the shelf that weren't on display. There were plenty of staff milling around, but none looking even remotely interested in helping customers.

And the new checkout line just isn't better. It moves quicker than you'd expect, but the image of a line snaking around the store is daunting and unpleasant. I liked the old system better

Really sad to see such a Texas institution in decline. Here's hoping it's just this one location.

I have been shopping at Academy all my life. Hands down this store in San Angelo is the worse. All departments picked over. Unfolded clothes in all departments. Shoe department was the worst! No selection in the summer time for flip flop and saddles. Empty shoe boxes everywhere. Don’t even get me started on the new check out..:I spent more time in line than shopping. The check out is so bad. Come on Academy I know you can do better.

As has been my experience with other Academy stores, the shoe department looks like a tornado went through. The poor clerks were trying though. I'm hard to fit and I know it, so shoe shopping is always somewhat of an Easter egg hunt. It would have been easier if the sections for men, women etc had some sort of signage. The clearance section was a total mess. That said, I did find shoes finally!

Horrible customer service. So sick of young folk and their attitudes. Not coming back.
Y’all just lost another customer to Amazon, since your own incompetent sales reps don’t know your price match policy. There won’t be Academy in ten years.

Came to buy some fishing gear, and almost everything was sold out. Their items aren't updated from their internet sight. Other than that, they are usually pretty good about keeping up with their stock.
